Carmen is an opera in four acts by the French composer Georges Bizet. The libretto was written by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, based on a novella of the same title by Prosper Mérimée.

Valerie is a self-confident and modern woman - she commutes between L.A., where she works, and Berlin, where she lives with her partner above the rooftops of the city. A school full of seeming good Samaritans turns out to be a front for evil in this exercise in horror. Five teenagers are enjoying a late-night ride when their car loses control, and they find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere. The kids are taken in by the staff of the Marquez Academy, a private school not far away, but they soon discover their benefactors have a sinister side, and as they try to find out the truth about the Academy and its staff, they learn that many of the local townspeople hate and fear the academy and its students -- and with good reason.

Because of his lower class status, Alberto is rejected by Elvira. He then travels to the capital city to study Philosophy and return worthy of Elvira's love and approval.

Mostly shot in San Francisco and Northern California, material filmed (using the camera almost as a p[r/a]inter, a means of shaping the visual world as film, but without reflection) in response to what that world was opening in me. "Material!" - analogies between weaving and spinning thread and images already a pattern within film history (e.g., in Deren) is here carried into further ramifications of unraveling and patterning in fabric- and cinema-making, as well as in personal and mythic dimensions. The open unfolding structure, which pulls away from the balanced design of much of my work, gives equal weight to the sound composition. Involves "opening" with its perils and ambiguities.

Listening to folk songs from the workers' hometown at the construction site in Shenzhen is touching. Once the song stops, you become eager for it. This singing series is also called "Sharing Hometown" and “Lingering Songs". You see, the eyes of the singing workers are shining, because we are all close to the Buddha.
