The bond between a mother and her son is indeed a special one. It was the same between Farooq and his Ammi, but depends with he always longed for his father. A retired professor returns to his estate with his beautiful young wife Yelena. The estate originally belonged to his now-deceased first wife; her mother and brother still live there and manage the farm. For many years the brother (Uncle Vanya) has sent the farm's proceeds to the professor, while receiving only a small salary himself. The professor's daughter Sonya, who is about the same age as his new wife, also lives on the estate. The professor is pompous, vain, and irritable, and calls Dr. Astrov to treat his gout, then sends him away without seeing him. Astrov is an experienced physician who performs his job conscientiously, but has lost all idealism and spends much of his time drinking. Yelena's presence introduces a bit of sexual tension into the household: Astrov and Uncle Vanya fall in love with her and she spurns them both.

The birds awaken sleeping cherubs, who begin their work of harvesting all things blue and adding them to the river. The birds even do their part, harvesting the color blue from the rainbow. Everyone tugs to open a floodgate and unleash the cerulean waters. A swan, festively decorated, leads a gondola of sorts lit by fireflies.

A robber who carries out a bank robbery is sought everywhere, and the thief seeks shelter in Cevriye's house, seeking help from her. In time, a relationship will arise between the two that rebelled against all life and identities.

Five small villages had been connected by the road and they were left with a deserted 20 km stretch in the wilderness. Along the road Sami people and finish farmers continue their lives. They still have the road and they have brought really old cars over the ice of Torneträsk so they could drive during summer time. One of the old men that built the road, Sven-Erik Stöckel, writes a letter to the politicians in Kiruna, asking them to finish the road so people do not have to risk their lives getting to the road crossing the dangerous lake of Torneträsk. Will it ever be finished? And what happened to the children that were born as a result of the road workers coming into the wilderness meeting the local girls?
